The Boss Network Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 10, 2026
The Boss Network ("The Boss Network," "we," "us," or "our") provides a goal-setting, accountability, journaling, and community mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used and shared, and the choices available to users.
Information we collect
Depending on how a user uses the app, we may collect:
- Account information: name, email address, password-protected authentication information, country, city, province or state, profession, biography, and account settings.
- Profile and community information: profile and cover photos, discovery preferences, shared interests, Circle memberships, invitations, connections, blocks, and profile details a user chooses to provide.
- Goal and progress information: goals, milestones, focus areas, journey dates, check-ins, streaks, Boss Mission activity, reminder settings, and Boss Notes activity.
- Journal and reflection information: journal entries, reflection prompts and responses, mood entries, and related dates. This content is stored to provide cloud backup and restoration across the user's devices. It is not displayed in the founder/admin analytics dashboard or shared with other members.
- Communications: Boss Circle messages, direct messages, reactions, boosts, and other content a user sends through the app.
- Safety information: user reports, blocks, the reason and optional details provided with a report, and related moderation records.
- Technical and usage information: an app installation identifier, push-notification token, device platform, general app-opening and feature-usage counts, and timestamps needed to operate, secure, and improve the app. We do not use this information for third-party advertising.
How we use information
We use information to:
- create, authenticate, and maintain user accounts;
- save and restore goals, progress, reminders, journals, and reflections;
- provide Circles, connections, messaging, boosts, invitations, and notifications;
- display information a user intentionally shares with a Circle or connection;
- provide support, investigate reports, prevent abuse, and protect users;
- understand aggregate app engagement and improve reliability and features; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our policies.
What other users can see
A user's name, profile photo, location details, profession, biography, interests, and other profile information may be visible through discovery, connections, or Circles according to the user's app settings.
Goals are not shared with Circle members unless the user enables goal sharing. When enabled, accepted Circle members may see the shared goal, focus, journey day, milestones, check-in activity, streak information, and Boss Mission progress. Circle messages and reactions are visible to members of that Circle. Direct messages are visible to the participants in that conversation.
The Founder may temporarily enter a Circle using the Founder Drop-In feature and view or participate in that Circle's conversation during the visit.
Service providers
We use service providers to operate the app. These include Supabase for authentication, database, file storage, and server functions; Expo for mobile-app services and push-notification delivery; and email-delivery providers for operational or moderation email. These providers process information on our behalf under their own security and privacy obligations.
We do not sell personal information and do not share it for third-party behavioural advertising.
Photos and file storage
Profile photos and Circle images are stored using public-image delivery so they can load for permitted app users. Anyone who obtains the direct image URL may be able to view that image. Users should not upload sensitive or confidential images as a profile or Circle image.
Data retention
We retain account information and associated app content while an account remains active and as needed to provide the service. When an account is deleted, the app removes the account and associated active data, including profile information, cloud backups, messages, connections, Circle membership, photos, push tokens, and authentication credentials. A Circle owned by the deleting user is transferred to its earliest-joined active member when other active members remain; an empty Circle is deleted.
Limited information may be retained when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or enforcement. Deleted information may also remain temporarily in restricted encrypted provider backups until those backups cycle out and is not restored for ordinary app use.
Account and data deletion
Users can permanently delete their account from Settings > Delete Account in The Boss Network app. The app requires the user to type DELETE before completing this irreversible action.
Users who cannot access the app may request account and associated-data deletion through the account-deletion page on our website or by emailing thrive@thebossnetwork.ca from the email address connected to the account. We may need to verify account ownership before completing an email request.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including authenticated database access, row-level access controls, encrypted network transmission, protected mobile-session storage, and restricted administrative functions. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
User choices
Users can update profile information, control profile discovery and goal sharing, change notification settings, block other users, log out, or delete their account through the app. Device-level notification permissions can also be changed in the phone's settings.
Age eligibility
The Boss Network is intended only for adults who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that an underage person created an account, we will take reasonable steps to remove the account and associated information.
International processing
Information may be processed in Canada, the United States, or other locations where our service providers operate. Privacy protections in those locations may differ from those in the user's home jurisdiction.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes. We will revise the effective date and provide additional notice when required.
